Šibenik is a historical town in Croatia, situated in the Middle Dalmatia, where the Krka river drains into the Adriatic sea. Šibenik is the biggest city in historical region of Dalmatia. It is the oldest Croatian city on the Adriatic coast. Other cities were founded by Greeks, Illyrians, and Romans, but Šibenik was founded by Croatians.
One of the most significant places that you must see in Šibenik is the Cathedral of St. James, which is important Renaissance building in Croatia, listed on UNESCO heritage list. The Cathedral is situated under the City walls in the very center of the town, as well as the City Hall, the Church of St. Barbara, and the church of St. Francis and numerous town squares. Other sights to see are St. Nicholas Fortress, St. Michael Fortress and Barone fortress.
